List of SonarServer Compatible Fish Finders and Multifunction Displays

Plotters Image for Post

There are many Fish Finders and Multifunction Displays that are compatible with the Digital Yacht Sonar Server and we have compiled a list of the most popular current and legacy models from the major manufacturers. To download the latest version of the list please click here.

This list is for guidance only and although care has been taken to make the list as accurate as possible, it should not be 100% relied upon as manufacturers change their specifications, features are added/removed with new software releases, installations may not be fully interfaced together, etc.

Most Chart Plotters that have a built-in sounder or that are networked to a black box sounder module or depth instrument, should be able to output Depth and GPS data to the Navionics App. Some of the units listed do not output the NMEA0183 data by default and some menu configuration may be necessary, please check the product’s User Manual for more information.

Many new units have both NMEA0183 and NMEA2000 interfaces and a few of the latest units only have NMEA2000. These units have “Optional NMEA0183 Converter Required” written in the notes column. We do not currently produce an NMEA2000 version of the Sonar Server, but our NavLink wireless NMEA2000 server has been tested with Navionics SonarCharts “Live” and it works very well. 1. Installing A smart transducer to display depth on Furuno rd33. Should a sonar server to provide wifi access to an ipad with navionics be wired directly to the smartducer or to the nema183 output terminal on the rd33

    • Hi Doug,
OK have studied the RD33 manual, which looks like a really smart device, and I can confirm that this unit can combine/create and output all of the data that Sonar Server requires, so I would connect Sonar Server up to the RD33 NMEA0183 Output, rather than directly to the smart transducer.
On the RD33 NMEA Cable connect the White wire to our Sonar Server Yellow wire and connect the Black wire of the RD33 to the Green wire of the Sonar Server.
      Best regards

  2. I have a radio gx2100 with ais connected to a Lowrance HDS gen2 can I conenect sonnar server to the hds5 also and stream ais and sonnar info to navionics app?

    • Hi Martin,

I am afraid that this is not possible, mainly because the Navionics App does not handle AIS data. Also the Lowrance does not re-transmit AIS data and the GX2100 does not allow Depth Data to be multiplexed with its own AIS+GPS data, so I cannot think of an easy way to do this.

The HDS5 only has one NMEA0183 Port which if you are feeding AIS data in to it from the GX2100 at 38400 baud, means that the GPS+Depth Output for the Sonar Server is also at 38400 baud, so you would need to change the Sonar Server baud rate to 38400, which is possible and if you mention this when you order it, we can do the baud rate change for you, which will be much easier for you.

      Hope this all makes sense.

      PAUL
