The Lowrance HDS range of Multifunction displays is on its third generation and all units feature a single NMEA0183 Port that our Sonar Server can connect to. Click here for a wiring diagram.
The port must output and input data at the same baud rate, so if you already have an AIS connected to this port then you will need to reconfigure the Sonar Server baud rate to 38400 baud, which is detailed in a Tech Note that can be downloaded by clicking here.
Have an HDS Gen 1 networrked with HDS 2 Touch will the sonar server still function?
Lowrance Wifi will not work when network is configure in this manner.
Hi Bill,
Sonar Server relies upon the NMEA0183 Output of either the HDS1 or HDS2 (whichever you decide to connect it to) and I have never heard of any devices stopping their NMEA0183 output when networked together. I assume that when you have these two different generation units networked together that the HDS2 has to default to the older HDS1 protocol, so stopping the HDS2 from supporting the latest Wi-Fi functions.
This should have no affect on the NMEA0183 output and hopefully our Sonar Server will allow you to have a good work around.
Best regards
